Margin tool

The Margin tool is an essential asset in treatment planning by allowing users to add boundaries around structures. This tool provides flexibility in creating both 2D, 3D and custom margins.

Workflow
  1. Select the structure that you want to modify from the Structures tab.
  2. On the top bar, select from the dropdown menu a 2D/3D/Custom mode accordingly.
  3. Click on the switch for Inner margins (optional).
  4. Set your values in millimeters.
  5. Click on the Create button.

Margin modes

The Margin tool offers 3 available modes for expansion:

  • 2D: Adds a two-dimensional margin for your structure.
  • 3D: Adds a three-dimensional margin for your structure.
  • Custom: Allows specifying different values for each of the six directions.

Ensure that the proper 2D/3D mode is selected, depending on the guidelines of the specific structure!

Setting values

For each and every option (2D/3D/Custom) you may change the margin size using the box(es) available on the top bar, in one of three ways:

  • By sliding the mouse over the corresponding box.
  • By clicking on the box and setting a specific value.
  • By clicking on the arrows

Creating inner margins

You may select an Inner margin for your structure. If not otherwise specified, the function generates an outer margin by default.

Custom margins

The top bar controls when selecting the custom margin mode.

When choosing the Custom mode, you can choose to expand the margin by setting different values for each of the six directions using the top bar.

Resetting viewports

You can return to the initial viewport position by clicking on the Reset Viewports button from the top bar.
